Greetings from the Arizona Carcinoid Neuroendocrine Team
Preface
The Arizona Carcinoid Neuroendocrine Team was formed to support the newly diagnosed carcinoid NET (Neuroendocrine Tumor) patient.
Our goal in this pamphlet is to introduce you to very basic 'need to know' information that will help you make good decisions about your treatment as soon as possible.
For further in-depth information we encourage you to attend our support meetings where we are dedicated to provide you with FACT-BASED information as well as comfort and support. We will, upon your first visit, ask you for information about your disease status, and we will then assign you to an experienced advisor who will be available for responding to any questions you may have.
In the past, we have heard a frequent comment from the newly diagnosed. They say that one hour with this support group will result in more information than a lengthy review of computer based information.
The pamphlet for newly diagnosed carcinoid patients entitled You Are Not Alone! was written for those who attend our support group meetings for the first time. For years we have wanted to give them something tangible to carry away from the meeting; our empathy never seemed to be enough. We?re pleased with our pamphlet. After sending copies to oncologists, nurses, carcinoid patients and giving it to several new members, we have had nothing but complimentary comments "wonderful, a blessing, fantastic, just what we needed".
To make it possible for other support groups to use it, we have changed page five of the original. The pamphlet now allows groups to simply add the names of their members who are willing to be called for further information. We have left in the location of our meeting at the Banner Good Sam Hospital in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona.
Our basic intent is to get the pamphlet into the hands of as many newly diagnosed patients as possible. We believe that quickly giving them the support of others and also providing them with a five-step Phases of Awareness to arrive at the Survivor status will be of immense concrete help.
This Greetings note is not part of the PDF pamphlet. We suggest that you write an introductory message to orient your reader.
